Monika,
Last night(Sat) on the Garden Prog on ABV2 with Peter Cundle he showed how you can strike the seeds from a Banksia cone...He popped it into the oven on low for a few hours then when it came out it had opened up its seeds a bit like a pair of lips
He then shook them onto paper and out flew little fine shaped seeds
Then he placed them in potting mix and seed raising mix then on top he sprinkled brickie sand to keep them flat and not to blow away.....
I will try this ...he later showed us the small plants after they reached about 4/6 inches in size...
So we are in Banksia mode this week hey.....

I can't believe the co-incidence! And I would love to see what you do with those seeds, when they come up. Wow, I love that show, and haven't seen it for ages. Such a lovely man. Thanks Lois, will have to make time to watch him again soon. Loved reading this.

These banksia's are simply magnificent Monika. Reminds me of the work of Celia Rosser which we have talked about. Indeed, it makes her work all the more amazing.

Yes, how did she do it? Funnily enough I have been thinking about her genius too. Just awe inspiring!
