Year of the Dog - Tribute

Our family dog Patsy. She had six puppies when
we were very small, shown here in the photo.
I remember being so excited. This dog protected us, was loved
by us, and was missed by us. She was with us for a
long time, a kelpie cross, and always joined in the games.
Dogs are just wonderful, and seeing it's the Year in
their honour, this is a fitting tribute.

Monika,
Memories of loved animals always bring tears, why much more so than people who have gone.....??????
My first dog was Bill....
A Kelpie Cross....................
Just a puppy of 8 weeks when my Mum Jessie bought him for my Daughter when a romance she had went bust...
"Dogs love you forever"
said Jessie.............
Then along came a new bloke and the dog was left at home with me ......He had a great life, travelling in a truck with my former husband Mac when he went away bushwalking ,bike riding etc.....
But eventually when they had all left I got Bill....no one wanted him ..they took their belongings, bikes, camping equipment, musical instruments furniture etc etc ...
But no one asked Bill what he wanted....so he became my constant.....We had a great 6 years together and he died aged 17 after what one could only call
" A charmed life"...
I buried him in the backyard under the Irish Strawberry Tree planted by my Mum, were he always sat in the shade...
One day I will tell you all, about the visit to Heathers and Darryls when Monty their King Charles Spaniel fell in love with Bill....Now that was a day to remember....Stars in their eyes lit up the room......

I love your writings. They are so full of interesting things, and stories within stories. We must have had our dog for 17 years too and she was like Jessie. A lovely friend to the family and always there when you needed her, probably still is:-)
