Monica ...I have not heard of a Horse Chestnut ...I looked up Peter Cundalls book where he calls them Sweet Chestnuts (are they the Same)

I do not see any growing around here in Port Melb.Perhaps because of their size...,,

Thanks Lois - found this one at the Botanic Gardens with a label attached to it. I think they may be English in origin. The blooms look like toasted marshmallows, as a friend commented. See them if you get the chance. Glad you liked it.
